About

1992 marked the beginning of an interesting and varied counselling and psychotherapy training pathway that continues to this moment.

As a young person, Lynsey faced demons of depression, anxiety, low self-esteem and a poor sense of self-worth. Post-natal depression and the uncomfortable but necessary experience of counselling helped Lynsey to decide in later years to train as a counsellor.

Starting with listening and counselling skills, Lynsey trained in integrative models in Cheltenham, Psychosynthesis in London, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Clinical Hypnotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, clinical supervision, coaching/training and Mindfulness.

At the end of 2002, Lynsey was fortunate enough to secure a contract with Gloucestershire County Council supporting people and specialising in housing-related support and substance misuse. Specialist counselling was the main focus for those suffering from addiction and mental health challenges.

A pivotal moment for Lynsey was in 2006, following her training in “Mindfulness for Counsellors” with Carmarthen College. Lynsey was left inspired and soon established a personal practice of meditation.

About Lynsey

By 2013, while working as a countywide manager, Lynsey’s awareness of how beneficial Mindfulness was proving to be, not only personally, became evident.

The remarkable evidence of recovery was acknowledged and celebrated by many peer mentors who received Mindfulness training.

After the contract concluded due to redundancy, Lynsey used her transferable skills, knowledge, and life experience to develop the not-for-profit agency Gloucestershire Mindfulness. Although mindfulness brings new experiences and challenges, it has always motivated Lynsey to continue the journey.

Lynsey has dedicated time to studying with Bodhin Philip Woodward, Principal Teacher at the Mindful Academy in Denia, Spain.

In August 2017, Lynsey volunteered at Oxford Mindfulness Centre as a masterclass workshop aide and helped others in the community learn the art of Mindfulness. Today, Lynsey specialises in Mindfulness on a one-to-one basis through Adult Education, groups, courses, and workshops in the workplace and schools.

Lynsey’s mission is to promote positive mental health and well-being. She adheres to the Good Practice Guidelines (GPGs) with integrity and professionalism.

‘‘I felt that my teacher personified Mindfulness.
Her voice, persona, and overwhelming sense of calm encouraged a learning experience that inspired me to go on to further my mindfulness study, which had not been my initial goal. Gloucestershire Mindfulness is highly recommended.’’
